The Wang Factor

As if his clothes weren't fabulous enough I just stumbled across some pieces of Alexander Wang Jewellery that I almost had a heart attack over.

As if I needed anymore reason to love him, I was flicking through English ELLE today and found his favourite movie...... Clueless...
" I think the cultural impact that this West Coast high-school movie had on viewers my age was huge. People underestimate the power of films like this, but sometimes the more light-hearted and simple things are in life, the better".

My perfect movie, my perfect man x

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. What we did was wrong. But we think you're crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain...

...and an athlete...
...and a basket case...
..a princess...
...and a criminal...

Does that answer your question?... Sincerely yours, The Breakfast Club.

Whenever I get asked the question "If I could date one character from a movie, who would it be?", the answer is and will always be John Bender.  The breakfast club is a exploration of the labels we aquire in highschool, through a Saturday detention intimate details are shared between unlikely friends and sterotypes are left discarded on the highschool steps at the end of the day.
I have been working on new pieces for the babyanything men's line and John is my muse.

There's Monsters Out There!

‘Trials’ Exhibition Opening Night

One hot night a little while ago the girls and I went to a show at the Monster Children Gallery. The screen prints were amazing, but my favourite was this wall mural above. Today I was flicking through the latest issue of M.C and Nat and I managed to get our mugs in some photos from the exhibition.

In the name of love.

Saturday night turned out to be big love fest.
There was love for a dear friend who we helped turn 27
There was love for time spent dancing hoochie style to the sounds of laughter from friends
There was love for how trendy and inspirational friends outfits can be
There was love for realising that the heart grows fonder through absence

This is me, borrowing one of the boyfriends tee's so even in his absence, he could feel part of the party.
Wearing babyanything  small skull, heart and sheild rings. Babyanything long necklace and heavy silver bracelets.

Trickle, a lady with fine style, caught in the act wearing  vintage top, ksubi cut-offs, vintage purse, chloe boots
and a fine necklace I'm coveting x

After all, All you need is.....

Pumpkin Hill

So the boyfriend is overseas pursuing one of his many wonderful dreams... I had been missing him quite a bit, but was most pleasently surprised when I returned to my inbox and this picture... Come on, who wouldn't want to be the 4th person atop of Pumpkin Hill?

The Mother x

So since the boyfriend has taken some L.A. vacation time the mother came down to stay. She came bearing an amazing gift for my apartment. As I am clearly a lover of all things skull related it comes as NO surprise that I am obsessed with mexican day of the dead related objects, the mother sourced a handmade candelabra that now takes pride of place x

While she was down we ate an amazing amount of food and treats, with caroled with the kids in Bondi and in true mother style she shopped til she dropped ( did someone say a massive purchase from ACNE!!!!)... she is way more stylish than I could ever imagine to be and is the inspiration behind some key babyanything pieces x

The mother rocking a Sass & Bide tee, Willow skirt, Dinosaur Designs necklace, Babyanything bracelets, customised shoes, and big fat waffle in her belly after this photo!

JJJ Xmas Party!

So last friday night, the night before the boyfriend left for Hollywood we hit up the Triple J xmas party.

He sometimes does little bits and bobs on the radio and on the night he performed some chart topping hits, "Your the Voice" certainly made my night x

Every Man's Fantasy....

So the actual event was to support Movember, an initative to raise awareness for men's prostate cancer and depression, and  Breast Cancer. All artists were asked to provide a piece to reflect on either of these causes.

Above is my 'Mo-bile', Skate deck by my tattooist daveundead, and Line drawing by Shan from Mambo x

Every girls fantasy...

Here is the other piece I exhibited at Fantasy Squad. It's a lifesize wooden cut out of two people 'together'. I had pictured this piece as a bed head for two brave souls x

The finished product.
Believe it or not I have many offers from friends to adopt this baby after the exhibition, altough I did not sell the piece on the night I have had many enquiries, after all it's not exactly something that you can pick up at your local mall. If it does do the rounds the first shift will be smack bang above my bed, followed by a short stay with the sister and weekend visits with the mother. I'm keeping it in the family x

It's only rock & skull.

For the past couple of months I have felt like I've been working 3 jobs-
1. The Cash Provider
2. The jewellery label
3. The Fantasy
Number 3 is 'Fantasy Squad' an exciting and most welcome thorn in my side in the form of an art show. I was making two large pieces for the show, run by a couple of very talented friends of mine. In truth I was just super pumped to be able to created something in larger scale than jewellery, but I almost bit off more than I could chew.
After perving on some of Sass & Bides amazing installations I just had to work with real animal bone in an artwork, I love anything skull, so this was just a natural progression. Where S&B were more post apocalyptic with their Mad Max roadside skulls, I wanted mine to touch on the magnificant. Like something one might stumble upon while running through a glossamer forest with the sugar plum fairy, while still retaining that macabre, sinister nature of the skull and the cross.
This piece almost sent me blind, having to solder the metal components together to make the cross, then glue the stones in the cross, then glue the 2088 swarovski crystals to the head itself, I thought I may never finish.
The fact that the head itself had to travel across many oceans and go through many custom's checks made it's arrival that much more welcome.
I must also mention the fact that I am still finding crystal's in random places around the apartment and a big thank-you to the boyfriend who put up with lot's of boring nights of me working on it while obsessing over 'The City' playing on repeat in the background.
It was worth it in the end.

She's got the look...

I don't know if there is anything sexier than a pretty girl with a fist full of metal.
Elle is rocking the sheild ring up top, and the other ladies are just more (trust me I don't need much convincing) inspiration for me to pack on as much hardcore silver as I can before I leave for work each day. Especially if I'm wearing a pretty dress that day.

BabyAnything as featured on TheyAllHateUs...

Here is my amazing sister Elle wearing the sheild ring I made especially for her.
After recieving so many comments and requests for the piece she agreed to let me put it into production.
'Big Ups' to you elle x x
